Introduction

MedCandy reformulates pharmaceuticals into candy to solve medication non-compliance — up to 50% of paediatric patients skip doses because of taste or swallowing issues. Liquid syrups become flavoured cotton candy with a dissolvable matrix: dehydrated liquid API infused into sugar that dissolves instantly on contact with saliva for rapid sublingual absorption without the bitter aftertaste. Liquid drops become gummy bears and chews using pectin or gelatin hydrocolloid gel matrices that lock in the API uniformly for precise micro-dosing. Solid tablets and powders become medicated lollipops — a hard candy matrix with slow-release APIs for 5–10 minutes of continuous mucosal absorption, aimed at sore throat, cough suppression and anti-emetics. Powders and granules become "pop rocks" style popping candy, where gas-entrapped sugar crystals mask chalky mineral tastes through sensory distraction. Capsules and creams become chewable marshmallow soft chews — an aerated sugar-protein foam needing minimal chewing force, designed for geriatric patients and mild dysphagia. Advanced features include taste-masking microencapsulation, child-safety locking packaging, thermochromic spoilage indicators, edible QR/NFC dosage-tracking tags and sugar-free xylitol/isomalt formulations, all designed to comply with GMP/FDA/EMA paediatric guidelines. Future scope: 3D-printed gummies dosed precisely to a patient's weight and prescription.
